MUSIC ACTIVITY 5

Listen to the music (click on the picture). This is a soundtrack created for the EDGE2 Isthmus event.

These are the instructions for the activity. You can write them down in the activity below, but it is best to keep notes.

TECHNICAL NOTE: When typing into the box, do not hit return. Keep typing on one line. You can then select the whole line, copy and paste into a word document to save the file.

1) While you are listening write down 6 words or groups of words that describe the sounds you hear. For example, clashing, wind blowing, crashing waves, smashing rocks, happy tourists, etc.

2)Take a trip to the Bruny Island Neck and listen to the sounds. Compare the list you made before and add any new sounds.

3) With your teacher's help, complete your list of sounds. Then think of a way to make similar sounds using instruments or objects. For example, clapping hands, hitting wooden sticks on a bottle, plastic bottles with rice.

4) Next to each of the six words you wrote down, write down the instruments that match. For example, sand blowing = shaking rice in a plastic bottle; waves crashing = shaking water in a plastic bottle; ,,,,
